Conservatories, Sunrooms, Gardenrooms - Example Conservatory Project.
Here we have one example conservatory project. In this instance the client had opted for a Victorian style with five sections in the bay.
Five sectioned bays are generally speaking a little more difficult for the builder/bricklayer to "set out" than the more conventional three section bay Victorian. As you will see in this example the bricklayer had a rather good idea for a way of making sure he got the brickwork - just perfect!

The clients have a rather small patio area and the addition of the conservatory will leave them with virtually no patio at the front of the conservatory. Add to that the fact that the garden slopes upwards and we have a situation, which requires quite a large "bank" of garden to be removed in order to create an area in front of the conservatory.
Here the builder has hired a Mini Digger for the day in order to make light work of this particular aspect.
The conservatory base is almost complete and the builder is now completing the garden retaining wall and steps from the patio up into the garden. Note the white PVCu welded cill in the foreground. In order to make sure he got the base walls correctly positioned the builder has in addition to using the base plan supplied by the conservatory company requested the conservatory company to deliver the welded cill for the conservatory in advance. That way he was able to use the cill as a "template" for the base walls. This makes "setting out" quite a lot easier and more "exact"!!
Here we see the PVCu welded cill again. It fits perfectly on top of the outside course of brickwork. The builder still has the inside course of brickwork to complete.
The base is completed. The blue material you can see is the photo is the damp proof membrane, which is inserted under the concrete base.
The conservatory installers are at an advanced stage with the conservatory erection. One more roof panel fitted and they will be almost there. (Apart from sealing and cleaning up off course) Note the "stepped" lead flashing detail at the rear of the conservatory - where the conservatory joins on to the existing house wall.
The conservatory and landscaping is complete and the clients are starting to enjoy their new "room addition". Like so many before them they wonder "how did they ever make do with out one"?
The builders and installer have made a very good job. As the site "matures" it looks like the conservatory had always been there!
