A few points to consider when specifying a conservatory or orangery for a commercial application:
Most large span conservatories require Portal frame works to support the structure. Consult a specialist structural engineer or commercial Conservatory Installer for advice.
Heat build up can be an issue, design with blinds and air conditioning units in mind.
Allow for adequate eating in the winter months and evenings.
Fit quick exit / fire escape doors – and clearly mark their location
Consider lighting – where will it be located / managed from?
Safety Glazing – laminated glass and toughed glass requirements.
External landscaping – especially with regards to users safety.
Internal Plants: Investigate conservatory plants or perhaps consider replica plants and trees.
Building regulations and planning permission.

With modern construction methods and portal framing massive structural undertakings can be undertaken in a quick and efficient manner – often much quicker than many business owners realize – meaning that the disruption to their business can be kept to a minimum. Certainly a conservatory is often the most viable solution for extra space when “down time” has to be kept to a minimum - especially compared to a traditional brick built extension.
Commercial conservatories can be found in almost every type of business – here is one of the more unusual applications – a conservatory built as a recreation area for animals in a zoo!
